HOW DOES IT WORK
With a vegetable box subscription, you get a crate full of vegetables every Wednesday from May till half of December, supplemented with herbs, fruit (sometimes, in the season and if available) and sometimes a jar of homemade preserves. Most of the vegetables come from the land of the tuinen van de egel. From the 2026 season, some of the vegetables come from a piece of land close to Scherpenzeel where we started to farm. Here we mostly grow the more storable vegetables like pumpkins, potatoes and cabbages. We harvest the vegetables fresh from the land every week and bring them to one of our pick-up points in Amsterdam Oost, Amsterdam Noord or at the farm in Gorssel. We will send you (if you like) an email every week with everything about the weekly vegetables, life on de egel, fun facts and more...!

WHAT IS IN A VEGETABLE BOX
On the hedgehog we grow more than 60 varieties of different vegetables(see a list of all the vegetables we grow in dutch here ). Everything is free of pesticides, artificial and animal manure. A box contains at least 5 to 8 different kinds of vegetables each week, supplemented by herbs and in-season fruit (berries, cherries and plums). You eat with the season. This means there are more leafy vegetables in your box in spring, for example, and autumn vegetables in the fall (surprise). You also share in the risks of growing vegetables. If the harvest is disappointing (for example, due to a wet spring and thus a lot of snails) it may be a little less, if it is better (for example due to few snails) we share in the abundance. Here is an example of a box of vegetables last summer. Be aware; this was a time of real abundance, the average package throughout the season is less exuberant but still as delishes mhh.



SMALL OR BIG VEGETABLE BOX
You can choose from a small or a large box. A small box contains enough vegetables for an average one-person household; a large package contains one and a half times as much (enough for two people who don't eat an exceptional amount of vegetables, or eat out occasionally). A large package is one and a half times the price of a small package.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
The price depends on ur income. We work with solidarity prices, the higher your income the higher the price. This way we make sure that ecological vegetables are affordable for everyone and at the same time strive for a fair wage for the farmer. We ask you to pay at the beginning of the season for the whole year. This is because the costs for us are also in the beginning of the season (think of seeds, planting material, compost). PICK UP POINTS
We have three pickup points:

1 - Gorssel
The vegetable box is ready for you every week starting Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m. in the wagon right down the street at our garden. The wagon is always open so you can pick up the package at your convenience.

2- Amsterdam East
In Amsterdam East we bring the boxes to community center the Archipel on the Markassarplein where we will be every wednesday from 17:00 to 19:00. We prefer that you pick up your package then. If this is not possible you can also drop by on Thursdays and Fridays during the opening hours of the community center.

3 - Amsterdam North
Your box will be ready every wednesday for you from about 6:30 p.m. In a cabinet next to the leeshuisje near the Tolhuistuin. You will receive a number code to open the cabinet so you can pick up your package whenever you want.
